Is This Guy Stalking Me? How To Properly and Appropriately Follow Up On Referrals and Business Leads
If you are a business, it is great to have both referrals and leads. So how do you follow up with them the right way? This guide will show you how.
Being able to follow up with them will make the difference between landing the deal and letting it slip away. However, following up with them the wrong way will lead to the latter. If you want to be successful in bringing your referrals and leads one step closer, keep reading.
Let’s get right to it.
Send them an email
This is a simple and straightforward task. The problem is a lot of business owners and their sales team do not do this. When you send them an email, remind them of who referred them or why they were a lead to begin with.
It can be short, sweet, and to the point. You can also invite them to hop on a quick call or Zoom with you as a way to continue the conversation. You may need to send a few more follow ups, but space them out over the course of a day.
Connect with them on social media?
Are they on social media? If so, connect with them. You can send them a message and ask them if they are still interested.
Make sure to keep it short, personal, and consistent. They might even follow you on social media already (which makes it easier). If they have not followed you from the outset, it may be a good idea to hang back a bit before following them.
Offer them something of value
Most of your prospective clients want a quick win. So you may offer them something of value, such as an introduction to a useful third party, so you can build a bit more trust between each other. If what you have given them was helpful, remind them that your business can help beyond that.
For example, if you are an email copywriting agency, give them something like a cart abandonment sequence (if they are an ecommerce store). If they get lost sales from it, then you know that it was valuable on their end because of the amount of money they have gained. From there, you can offer your service and let them know what’s in it for them.
A small bit of value can go a long way. Plus, it will put you in the front of their minds.
Do not miss out on another prospective client
If you are looking for the right way to follow up with your referrals and clients, you will want to follow these three steps above. They are somewhat interested in what you have to offer. Now, you want to speak with them further so you can be sure if there is a deal on the horizon or not.
Once you provide enough value, you can seal the deal and you have a paid client for the long term. The sooner you get started on this, the better off your business will be.
