Drawing on two decades of expertise in the legal field, Mr. Fornaro specializes in business law. Since 2015, he has found much success as an attorney at his private firm, Matthew Fornaro, PA. In this capacity, he provides litigation counseling for new business formations and existing purchases, franchise agreements, contract drafting and disputes, real estate and condominium litigations, employment law, appeals, intellectual property and general business transactions. Prior to this role, Mr. Fornaro served as an attorney at Shutts and Bowen LLP from 2013 to 2015.
Mr. Fornaro initially began his profession working as an attorney for the Andrew M. Schwartz Legal Team from 2005 until 2010. Following this position, he continued to serve in a similar capacity at Greenspoon Marder LLP from 2011 to 2013. Outside of his primary vocation, he excels as an instructor of the Kaufman Foundation’s FastTrac NewVenture Program for the Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development. In his career-related endeavors, he has authored “A Parallel Problem: Grey Market Goods and the Internet” for the University of Florida Journal of Technology Law and Policy in 2003.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Fornaro pursued an education at Florida Atlantic University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in political science and government in 1999. He continued his academic efforts at the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law, earning a Juris Doctor in intellectual property law in 2002, including an additional Certificate in Intellectual Property Law. As a commitment to his field, he completed the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship Small Business Executive Program at the Florida State University College of Business in 2020. Additionally, Mr. Fornaro has been certified as a county mediator and a qualified arbitrator via the Florida Supreme Court, and a dispute resolution arbitrator by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
To remain aware of developments affecting his field, Mr. Fornaro has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the Stephen R. Booher American Inn of Court chapter of the American Inns of Court, the Broward County Bar Association and the Phi Alpha Delta fraternity. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, he has served on the board of directors at the Broward County Bar Association and the Sawgrass Nature Center and Wildlife Hospital. Moreover, Mr. Fornaro provides pro bono legal services for the Mission United Veterans Project, volunteers as a mentor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law Alumni Mentor Program and contributed to the Broward County Consumer Protection Board as a commissioner.
